Privacy policy

Last updated: November 2, 2026

This policy explains what Wakeel collects, why, how we protect it and what your rights are. Wakeel is a platform that lets businesses run an AI employee that answers their customers on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger.

  • Account data: name, email, business name and password (stored as a secure hash we never see).
  • Business content: files, links, FAQs, products and photos the business adds to teach the AI employee.
  • Customer conversations on connected channels: text, images, voice messages and their transcripts, the customer's name and number or platform id, and details the customer chooses to give when ordering (such as name and phone).
  • Operational data: technical logs, usage counts (replies, voice minutes) for plans and billing, and an audit log of admin actions.
  • To run the service: receive customer messages, write replies from the business's own knowledge, send product photos, record orders and summarise chats, and hand chats to the team when needed.
  • To notify the business's team (email and browser notifications), manage plans, and protect the service from abuse.
  • We don't sell data, don't use it for advertising, and never use your or your customers' conversations to train public AI models.
  • The business is responsible for its customers' data and for telling them it uses an automated assistant. Wakeel processes that data on the business's behalf and instructions, only to provide the service.
  • Meta Platforms (WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger): to receive and send messages through their official APIs.
  • OpenAI: to process text, transcribe voice messages and generate voice replies. Data sent through their API is not used to train their models, per their policy.
  • Hosting, storage and email providers bound to protect the data.
  • We use data from Meta platforms only to provide the service to the business that connected its account, Page or number, under Meta's Platform Terms and the WhatsApp Business policies. We don't share it with others for any other purpose, and a business can disconnect a channel at any time, which deletes its access tokens immediately.
  • We keep data while the account is active. When an account deletion is requested we delete its data within 30 days; encrypted backups may persist for up to 30 more days before they are erased.
  • See the Data deletion page for how to request it.
  • Each business's data is isolated at the database level, channel tokens are encrypted, connections use HTTPS, and admin access is limited and logged.
  • You may access, correct and delete your data and object to its processing. If you are a customer who messaged a business using Wakeel, contact that business directly or contact us and we'll help.
  • We may update this policy; the new version will be posted here with its date, and account owners will be told about material changes.
